Lakeshore-Landscapes

Photography from the Erie, PA Lakeshore Region
and Beyond

Information/About

I have been a serious amateur photographer for the past 10 years. Being employed by GE my initial interests were railroad related subjects. I then expanded my photographic endeavors into landscape and nature photography. This is where I now concentrate my efforts. As I am an Electrical Engineer by education, I have had to work on "expanding my horizons" and not seeing in a totally logical, structured manner. Landscape/Nature photography has allowed me to exercise creativity in attempts to create artistic images.

I am still 90% film based. I currently use the Canon system for most of my work, but also use a Hasselblad X-Pan for panoramic images. I briefly used a Pentax 645N medium format system. My current equipment list is detailed below. I also have a Canon G3 4MP digital camera. I used this camera exclusively while deployed to Iraq, as I was not about to take my Canon film equipment along. It performed very well, and I plan to move to a Canon DSLR in the near future. I look forward to the day when I am "filmless".

UPDATE-March, 2005. I have purchased a Canon 20D DSLR. Still holding on to the EOS 3, but so far thoroughly enjoy working digital. File sizes are not quite as large as I would like, but it seems prints up to A3 size should be feasible. I am working on test prints to gauge just how large I can print.

UPDATE-August, 2005. I have sold the EOS 3 film body. I am now 99.5% digital- I still have the unique Hasselblad X-Pan and continue to use it on occasion. Digital is, for me, the way to go. I have not missed film at all. I continue to improve my digital workflow.

UPDATE-July, 2006. The X-Pan was sold over the winter. I am now 100% digital.
